Dorchester, MA
Major Kitchen Renovation
Kitchen Designed by Joan Mazzaferro
Built by New England Design & Construction
Reason for the redesign:
NEDC transformed a cramped kitchen with little storage space into a cooking oasis for a two floor condo in Dorchester, MA, including a lockable back entry for private access for the owner and hanging bike storage.
Specifics of the redesign:
This owner also has two very treasured cats, so accommodations were made in the design to create a cat-friendly environment. Seen in the photo above, a nook is housed in the bottom of the kitchen island to have water and food readily available, and minimize the potential to kick over the cat feeding stations.
The design also includes a custom cat-drawer pull-out with kitty door to contain the litter-box, and a specialized trash adjacent to reduce cleanup. This can be seen on the builder's website.
Luxury features like a pull-out beverage cooler as well as multiple under-counter ovens, under-counter microwave, and double-drawer dishwashers make cooking and cleanup in the space a breeze. A pop-up electrical outlet on the oversize island allows for baking appliances to be plugged in conveniently, and a kitchen-wide hanging storage system keeps accessories neat and tidy within the kitchen. A custom-painted backsplash designed by the owner lives behind the state-of-the-art recirculating air cleaning hood.
