The homeowners wanted to expand the size of their kitchen and provide easy access to the outdoors. Views of the beautiful yard can now be enjoyed at the window over the sink as well as through the sliding doors.

Appliances are placed for easy workflow preparing meals and cleaning up. The centrally located peninsula works as a landing zone for taking items out of the large refrigerator. It also makes a good food prep area being near the refrigerator, across from the sink, and near the stove.

Above are pictures of the bar with dedicated beverage refrigerator plus pantry cabinets, which is located to the right of the sliding doors. Also the sink work triangle area.

Demolition was necessary to expand the kitchen footprint and make this dream kitchen a reality.

Stephanie designed the new kitchen layout while the space was being gutted.

Since the chimney could not be moved, the designer had it covered with decorative stone to make it a design feature.

The sizable peninsula was designed around the chimney making it a functional focal point. This multifunctional peninsula provides work space and has lots of storage, with drawers plus an under-counter microwave oven on the side facing the sink.

Additional storage cabinets face the adjoining room. With the countertop extended on the opposite side over the cabinets, casual seating can be brought in when desired. This area can also be used for a buffet spread when entertaining.

The bar and pantry area can be seen in the background.
